INFECTION CONTROL PRECAUTIONS

As a provider of occupational safety and health services, Safewest is committed to keeping your workforce safe, and we utilize a variety of evidence-based infection control measures when providing fit testing. Most of these have been our standard practices long before the Covid-19 pandemic, though we have offered enhanced measures to reflect current CDC guidance for Covid-19.

These guidelines have been reviewed and updated May 1, 2023.

GENERAL MEASURES

  • All onsite staff are fully vaccinated for Covid 19, and complete daily symptom screening using the most current CDC guidelines.

  • Hand hygiene and/or glove changes as appropriate when switching between critical tasks while at a client site.

  • As requested by client: Using a properly-worn facecovering within your facility.

  • As requested by client: Offering training options using webinars, online courses, outdoors, or in smaller groups utilizing large spaces where social distancing measures can be maintained.

RESPIRATOR FIT TESTING MEASURES

Based on our knowledge of infection control for respiratory diseases, and after review of any available guidelines from the manufacturers of our fit testing equipment, we utilize the following measures specific to the respirator fit testing process:

  • Utilizing fit testing equipment engineered to not transmit air or aerosolized particles between fit test subjects.
  • For fit testing reusable respirators: Cleaning fit testing adapters between each user with a 70% Isopropyl alcohol solution and, for most fit testing adapters, using disposable internal sample tubing (there is a short tube that goes from the adapter inside the facepiece).
  • For fit testing disposable respirators: Single-use, disposable fit test adapter probe.
